Who would have thought that you could turn a hobby of shopping at thrift stores into a successful career choice?

Bentley DeGarmo, a former advertising account executive, has always had great luck finding treasures in many of our areas thrift and consignment stores. After moving back to Greenville, she started working retail and found there was a need for the more high-end consignment stores that she frequented in larger cities like Atlanta and DC. She did some serious research into the consignment industry, and as the country moved into a slowing economy and the green trend picked up, felt that the time was ripe for the venture.

She opened Labels Designer Consignments in July of 2009 with a couple crucial goals in mind: to offer a quality, gently-worn women’s apparel and accessories in a boutique setting and to offer both consignors and customers a more convenient and customer-friendly way to stay stylish on a budget.

With hopeful optimism, she opened in the midst of a recessed economy in order to prove that one man’s trash is another’s treasure. The mindset of today’s consumer has had to change to merely get by, but women still enjoy lovely things and want to look their best. The mental block many have of buying second-hand is eradicated immediately upon walking into Labels. With an extraordinary eclectic mix of designer labels, nearly new items and amazing, unique finds, everyone is sure to find “just the thing one’s been looking for”.

Welcome to Labels Designer Consignments!

Labels is a welcome addition to the Augusta Road shoppers looking for something different. Here women, who could only browse and window-shop other “full-priced” stores, are able to purchase and carry that designer handbag or well-made business suit, needed to “dress for success” or nail that interview. Teenagers wanting to fit in, can afford the latest “it” jeans or shoes without spending a month’s allowance.
